Terms of service

Using the service

Get Website Audit runs an automated audit of a public website and produces a report about it. The service is currently free. By using it you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.

What the audit is

The report is produced by two automated checks: Google's PageSpeed Insights, which loads the page in a real browser, and our own direct scan of the page. Where the two agree, we say so. Where something could not be measured, we say that instead of guessing.

What the audit is not

It is an automated opinion, not a professional consultancy engagement, a security audit, a legal review or an accessibility certification. A score is our assessment against our own criteria — it is not a statement of fact about your business and no one else is obliged to agree with it.

We do not promise that acting on a report will increase your traffic, your enquiries or your sales. We deliberately do not put figures on those things anywhere in the report, because we cannot measure them.

Fair use

Please do not use the service to attack, overload or disrupt any website, including ours; to run bulk or automated audits; or to break the law. We limit how many audits can be run from one connection, and we may block access that looks abusive.

Auditing other people's websites

You may audit any publicly available website. We only read pages that are already public. You are responsible for how you use a report about a site you do not own — in particular, do not present our assessment as though it came from the site's owner.

Availability

The service is provided as it is, without any guarantee that it will be available or that every audit will finish. Parts of it depend on Google's service, which is outside our control. When Google's test does not run, the report says so plainly rather than filling the gap.

Our liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss arising from your use of the service or from acting on a report. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Your report and your data

The report about your site is yours to use however you like. We keep a copy so the link keeps working — see the privacy policy for how long, and how to have it removed.

Changes

We may update these terms. The date at the top shows when they last changed. If you keep using the service after that, the updated terms apply.
